OPERATOR / BUSINESS SEMINAR
Juan Yraguen has been involved in the logging industry for 28 years. Juan worked in the rigging during summer and holiday breaks during high school and college. He graduated from Oregon State University in 1984 with a bachelor's degree in science with major in business; accounting and a minor in economics. After graduating he worked for Chevron's natural gas accounting department in Concord, CA. In 1985, Juan joined Nick & Jaime, buying out their dad. Basco Logging Inc. employs between 30 - 40 people. The company has weathered many changes in the industry and presently, production is divided about 60/40 between logging and road construction. Juan is the general manager and his days consist of bidding jobs, managing personnel, daily operations, cost control and cash management. Juan has been married to Kristin for 20 years and they have three children; Boni; 15, Arie; 13 and Carson 2. When he is not working, he enjoys spending time with his family, coaching football, basketball and baseball, and he is an avid Beaver fan. Juan will be talking on how owning & operating costs, equipment utilization, volume per acre and piece size affect production rates and job profitability.
