"Updates on Washington Department of Natural Resources"

Bob Dick, is the Washington Manager for the American Forest Resource Council in Olympia, Washington. Bob will present an update on what is going on with the WA Department of Natural Resources. His discussion will include the following areas; update on timber sale program, update on the sustained yield program and breakdown of the lands commissioner race.
Bob Dick is a second generation forester with a wide variety of experience ranging from tree planting and choker setting to a steady progression of professional forestry positions in Washington, Idaho and Alaska.
He began his professional career as a staff forester for Boise Cascade in Aberdeen, Washington and went on to a log buyer's position before moving into the association field where he spent a significant part of his career dealing with forest practices and various policy level issues on subjects ranging from slash burning and chemical applications to stream typing. He was a key player in the mid 1980's Timber Fish Wildlife negotiations that substantially modified forest practices statute and regulations.
He left Washington in 1989 to become Alaska State Forester and Supervisor, AK DNR Division of Forestry in Anchorage where he was responsible for all aspects of the state's forestry programs. He currently serves forest manufacturers and public timber purchasers in Washington State and deals with the myriad issues that surround public timber supply.
Bob has a BS in Forest Management and graduated in 1974 from UW College of Forest Resources.
Bob served with the US Coast Guard in Alaska, Puget Sound and Cape Disappointment. He and his wife, Jan, share 5 adult children and six grandchildren. His non-professional pursuits include fishing, gardening and riding his Harley Davidson. He is involved with SAF, UW College of Forest Resources Alumni Association, Masons and his community church.
